Explanation
Ren Gong Niu Huang, Shi Gao, Huang Lian, Huang Qin, Zhi Zi and Huang Bo: Clearing excess fire of the heart, stomach and liver.
Ju Hua, Jing Jie Sui, Bo He, Lian Qiao and Bai Zhi: Expelling wind-heat of upper-Jiao.
Dang Gui and Chi Shao: Activating blood and cooling blood.
Xiong Huang and Bing Pian: Removing toxicity.
Zhu Sha and Lian Zi Xin: Clearing the heart fire and inducing tranquilization.
Jie Geng and Gan Cao: Ventilating the lung and relieving sore throat.
Da Huang: Removing accumulation with purgative, clearing heat and purging fire.

Clear heat and purge fire, expel wind and alleviate pain.
