Tianshu
Tianshu(ST25,天枢) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot. It is the Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine and main point for antidysentery.
Meaning
Tian, heaven; shu, pivot. The region above the navel is considered as heaven, pertaining to Yang, while the region below the navel is earth, pertaining to Yin. The point is on a level with the navel, like the pivot between heaven and earth.
Location
2 cun lateral to the centre of the umbilicus.
Indication
- Main point for the diseases of the intestines, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, dysentery, appendicitis, etc.
- Paralysis of abdominal muscle.
Method
- Puncture perpendicularly. The needle tip may be slightly in the direction of the middle 1-1.5 cun.
- Women with 3 month or over pregnancy cannot be punctured.
