Explanation

Da Ji, Xiao Ji, He Ye, Qian Cao Gen, Ce Bai Ye and Bai Mao Gen: Removing heat from blood and stopping bleeding.

Zong Lv Pi: Stopping bleeding by astringing.

Zhi Zi: Dispelling heat and purging fire.

Da Huang: Inducing heat to go downward.

Dan Pi: Eliminating heat from blood and removing blood stasis, stopping bleeding without blood retained.

Effect

Removing heat from blood and stopping bleeding.

Indication

Bleeding due to blood-heat, marked by hematemesis, hemoptysis, reddened tongue and rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchiectasis and gastric ulcer.

Administration

Each of ingredients is burned with its nature maintained and then ground into powder. A Chinese ink stick is properly ground in an adequate amount of juice of lotus rhizome or carrot. 9 g of the powder is taken with the juice containing Chinese ink each time, twice daily. The drugs are burned with their nature maintained so as to enhance their action of astringing and stopping bleeding, The powder is taken with the juice so as to strengthen its action of removing heat from blood and stopping bleeding.
