Ingredients

Explanation

Ren Shen, Shan Yao and Lian Zi Rou: The principal drugs, invigorating Qi and strengthening the spleen, regulating the stomach to treat diarrhea.

Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Yi Yi Ren and Bian Dou: Promoting water metabolism and strengthening the spleen.

Sha Ren: Regulating the stomach and enlivening the spleen, promoting the flow of Qi to relieve chest depression.

Jie Geng: Facilitating the flow of the lung-Qi and guiding the action of other drugs to the uppet-Jiao.

Zhi Gan Cao: Replenishing Qi and regulating the function of the middle-Jiao, tempering the actions or all other ingredients.

Effect

Strengthening the spleen, invigorating Qi, regulating the stomach, removing dampness.

Indications

Syndrome due to Qi deficiency of the spleen and stomach complicated by dampness pathogen, marked by poor appetite, loose stools, or vomiting and diarrhea, weakness of the limbs, emaciation, depressing and distending sensation in the chest and epigastric region, sallow complexion, whitish greasy tongue coating, and weak slow pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as chronic gastroenteritis, anemia, tuberculosis of lung chronic nephritis;, and other chronic consumptive diseases.

Administration

All the ingredients are ground into fine powder. 6 g of which is taken with the decoction of Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae). (Taken also in the form of decoction wich the dosages of the drugs properly reduced according to the original proportions of the ingredients in the prescription).
