Ingredients

Explanation

Da Huang: Relaxing the bowels to sweep away the stagnancy of food or other pathogenic factors.

Ju Pi: Regulating the flow of Qi and the function of the stomach, checking upward adverse flow of Qi to arrest vomiting.

Chi Shao: Clearing heat and cooling blood, activating blood and resolving stasis, clearing liver fire.

Che Qian Zi: Inducing diuresis to relieve stranguria, draining dampness to check diarrhea, clearing liver-fire to improve vision and clearing lung heat and resolving phlegm.

Tian Hua Fen: Clearing heat and purging fire, generating body fluids and relieving thirst, moistening dryness and resolving phlegm.

Chan Tui: Dispersing wind-cold, relieving sore throat, relieving itching and promoting eruption, improving vision and removing nebula, extinguishing wind and relieving spasms.

Ju Hua: Dispersing wind-heat, subduing liver yang, and removing liver heat to improve vision, clearing lung heat.

Ji Li: Pacifying liver and soothing the liver, dispelling wind and improving vision.

Jing Jie: Dispelling wind and releasing exterior.

Zhi Qiao: Descending Qi.

Jie Geng: Promoting the flow of the lung-Qi.

Shi Gao: Removing heat and restlessness.

Dang Gui: Nourishing blood and activating the flow of it.

Mai Dong: Nourishing Yin, promoting the production of body fluids.

Gan Cao: Tempering the actions of all the other ingredients, invigorating Qi, regulating the stomach.

Bo He: Expelling wind pathogen.

Lian Qiao: Dispersing wind-heat, clearing heart-heat and removing toxicity.

Huang Qin: Clearing the fire of upper-jiao.

Huang Lian: Clearing the fire of middle-jiao.

Zhi Zi: Clearing heat syndrome of heart, liver and stomach.

Xuan Shen: Clearing heat and cooling blood, purging fire, removing toxicity, nourishing yin for lowering fire.

Clear heat and dispel wind, improve vision and alleviate pain.

All the drugs are ground into fine powder. The powder is made into pills.
