Ingredients

  • Ju Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) 12 g,
  • Zhu Ru (Caulis Bambusae in Taeniam) 12 g,
  • Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) 3 g,
  • Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zmgiberis Recens) 9 g,
  • Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 6 g,
  • Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae) 5 dates.

Explanation

Ju Pi: The principal drug, regulating the flow of Qi and the function of the stomach, checking upward adverse flow of Qi to arrest vomiting.

Zhu Ru: The other principal drug, clearing heat from the stomach to arrest vomiting.

Ren Shen: Invigorating Qi to strengthen the body resistance.

Sheng Jiang: Regulating the stomach to arrest vomiting.

Gan Cao and Da Zao: Invigorating Qi to regulate the stomach, tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.

Effect

Checking upward adverse flow of Qi to arrest vomiting, invigorating Qi and clearing away pathogenic heat.

Indications

Syndrome of pathogenic heat due to deficiency of the stomach and upward adverse flow of the stomach-Qi, marked by hiccup or retching, reddened tongue with thin yellowish coating, and weak rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as vomiting of pregnancy, incomplete pylorochesis and postoperative belching.

Administration

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
