Taichong(LR3,太冲) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Jueyin Liver Meridian of Foot. Taichong is the Shu-Stream and Yuan-Source Point of the liver.It is the main point for calming the liver.

Meaning

Tai, big; chong, important pass. The point is on the foot, where the Qi of meridian is abundant. It is an important pass of this meridian.

Location

On the dorsum of the foot, in the depression distal to the junction of the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones.

Indication

  1. Hepatitis, cholecystisis, cholelithiosis, ascariasis of the gallbladder.
  2. lowering high blood pressure, fainting and headache caused by high blood pressure, convulsion of epilepsy.
  3. spermatorrhea, enuresis, amenorrhea.
  4. headache caused by hepatic fire, redness and pain of the eye.

Method

Perpendicular insertion 0.5-0.8 cun.
