Mingmen

Mingmen(GV4,命门) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Governor Vessel.

Location

On the midline of the lower back, in the depression below the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra(L2) .

Indication

• ①Pain an stiffness in the lumbar area, paraplegia;
• ②irregular menstruation, leucorrhea with a reddish discharge, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, sterility;
• ③nocturnal emissions, impotence, sterility, frequent urination due to the decline of the life-gate fire, frequent micturition;
• ④cold pain in the lower abdomen, diarrhea.

Method

Perpendicular insertion 0.5-1 cun. Moxibustion is always applied.
