Bai Lian (Radix Ampelopsis)

Bitter, pungent, slightly cold; heart and stomach meridians entered.

Clear heat and remove toxicity; cure abscess and dissipate nodulation; promote tissues regernation and heal sores.

Sores and abscess, scrofula, subcutaneous nodule; burn due to hot liquid or fire, rhagadia of the hand and foot.

Decoct 4.5~9 g. Proper dosage is for topical washing after decocting or applying after pounding into fine powder.

It should be avoided using in treating patients with deficiency cold of spleen and stomach. It is antagonistic to Wu Tou.
