Ingredients
- E Jiao (Colla Corii Asini) 9g,
- Ai Ye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi) 9g,
- Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) 9g,
- Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) 6g,
- Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 6g,
- Gan Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae) 12g,
- Shao Yao (Radix Raeoniae) 12g.
Explanation
E Jiao: One of the principal drugs, nourishing blood and stopping bleeding.
Ai Ye: The other principal drug, warming the channels and stopping bleeding.
Di Huang, Dang Gui, Shao Yao and Chuan Xiong: Nourishing blood, regulating the channels and promoting blood circulation.
Gan Cao: Tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.
Effect
Nourishing blood, stopping bleeding, regulating the channels, preventing miscarriage.
Indications
Syndrome due to deficiency and impairment of the Chong and Ren channels, marked by metrorrhagia, metrostaxis, profuse and dribbling menstruation, or incessive hemorrhage after incomplete abortion, or uterine bleeding during pregnancy, pain in the abdomen, pale tongue, and deep thready pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as threatened abortion and incomplete recovery of the womb after delivery.
Administration
The ingredients except E Jiao are decocted in water for the decoction. E Jiao is melted in adequate amount of liquor. The decoction and the liquor are mixed together and taken twice. The liquor here can help the ingredients to exert their actions.
