Ingredients

Explanation

Ling Yang Jiao and Gou Teng: The principal drugs, removing heat from the liver, calming wind and relieving spasm.

Sang Ye and Ju Hua: Working together with Ling Yang Jiao and Gou Teng to enhance the effect of calming wind.

Bai Shao and Sheng Di: Replenishing Yin and promoting the production of body fluids so as to nourish the liver and relax the muscles and tendons.

Bei Mu and Zhu Ru: Removing heat and resolving phlegm.

Fu Shen: Calming the liver and tranquilizing the mind.

Gan Cao: Tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.

Effect

Removing heat from the liver, calming wind, promoting the production of body fluid and relaxing the muscles and tendons.

Indications

Syndrome due to wind transferred from the intense heat in the Liver Channel, marked by standing high fever, vexation, irritability, convulsion of the hands and feet, spasm, even coma, deep-colored and dry tongue and taut rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as epidemic encephalitis B and primary hypertension.

Administration

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
