百会

Baihui

Baihui(GV20,百会) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Governor Vessel. It is the crossing point of Governor Vessel with the BL, GB, TE and LR meridians( BL meridian: Taiyang Bladder Meridian of Foot ; GB meridian: Shaoyang Gall Bladder Meridian of Foot ; TE meiridian: Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian of Hand ; LR meridian: Jueyin Liver Meridian of Foot).

Location

At the vertex of the head, 5 cun posterior to the midpoint of the anterior hairline and 7 cun directly above the midpoint of the posterior hairline, or directly above the apex of the auricles on the midline of the head.

Indication

• ①Dementia, apoplexy, aphasia, clonic convulsions, insomnia, amnesia, insanity, epilepsy, hysteria, mental diseases;
• ②head-wind, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, and other diseases associated with kidney prolapse.

Method

Transverse insertion 0.5-0.8 cun, forwards or backwards. Moxibustion is applicable to raise yang and lift prolapsed zang-fu organs.
